    Vendors, developers and service providers hold significant responsibility. Honest implementation of on-device AI requires:

    • straightforward language explaining how local intelligence functions

    On-device AI offers a rare alignment opportunity: better experiences, stronger security and less unnecessary data hoarding. When designed correctly, local models handle personalization, protection and assistance while central systems receive only what is truly needed.

    The difference between empowerment and exploitation sits in details: clear choices, open documentation, no hidden data channels. If those conditions hold, the rise of on-device AI marks a shift away from surveillance-heavy design toward a more balanced ecosystem where intelligent tools stay close, and private lives stay closer.
